Hi! I'm 14, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE writing! I've posted a bunch of snippets on here and I write every day! I've started a million novels, but I always get distracted by a new idea!
To get *inspired*, I listen to music on Itunes all the time! I also look at landscape portraits, which really helps. Most of the time, the ideas are taken from an event in my life twisted and turned and exaggerated by 10000.
For example, I got the idea for one novel by listening to the Pride and Predjudice Soundtrack (beautiful album, but it!). I got te idea for another because I am in love with my best guy friend, and so is my best friend. (we're all three best friends-2 girls and 1 guy!). I was sitting there wondering how horrible it would be if he didn't like me back, so I got the idea for the book I'm writing now, about a girl in 1920s Tuscany, Italy, who is in love with a boy she knows and is tormented because he will never love her back. I posted it on here! :)
Good luck!
Emily

Take a break and start a new notebook. Brainstorm in it. Write down any silly ideas you have. And by all means - spend some time enjoying the last days of summer. A writer needs to be an observer of life. Spending all your time writing doesn't get you out in the world where the ideas are. Try spending an afternoon at a food court and just writing down descriptions of people who attract your attention. You would be shocked at how many plots and ideas you can come up with watching people off guard. Pax- C

I'm thirteen too! I also have those days, if you find it hard to write some days, just leave it and wait for new inspiration. Pushing too hard will force you to use bad ideas which you will regret wasting time on in the future. Still write down a description of your idea as it may come in handy in the future. I keep with me a tape recorder/voice activated system instead of a notebook if I'm going on a long journey as I have car sickness, it's a great help. Just remember, don't force yourself and ideas WILL come to you.
Good luck!

there are always good ideas, u just need to turn on ur imagination to recognize them. movie director john carpenter wrote "Halloween" while thinking about his childhood, and his babysitters in the home. everyone had a babysitter, or was one, so he knew the originally titled, "Babysitter murders" would sell as a story. he just retitled it "halloween" because of the scary factor.
carpenter also wrote "the fog" while talking to his girlfriend about the fog he saw on a coastline. he was house hunting, and asked her what she thought could be in the fog. "ghosts" she replied, and a movie idea was born.
wes craven wrote "nightmare on elm street" because of a newspaper clipping he read of a survivor of a holocaust in cambodia. the boy was too afraid to sleep, and when he finally did, he died.
"alien" was written not with an original idea, but because the writer needed money. so he took an idea (alien invades and attacks crewmen on a spaceship) that had been done to death, but made the creature extremely scary. sometimes it's not the idea, but what u do with it.

Stop thinking. I do the same thing and thats when I have the hardest time. When I let go and just go about my day things come to me :) its like when you try to think of the name of something, as soon as you stop trying it comes to you...yeah we just had an earthquake....good ol California!....but yeah, its cause you are trying too hard...I think a lot of people have that problem. Just take a break...it'll happen!
