How many years have these issues been going on now? I know there are issue with the heat, but other areas deal with expansive growth and temperature fluctuations. What gives with the lack of resolution to these issues?

Don't know the complete story, but I know there is some progress being made. There are some new technologies that are being put in place by California ISO (specifically flywheel storage technology) to help regulate supply and demand. It's already been tested on a small scale on the CA grid and will soon be ready for larger-scale deployment.

well it is like this out here. for years and years the eco freaks have ruled california and since they are in control the government is force to not plan any power plants or refineries in order to alliviate the power grid lock. the eci freaks even block wind gernerators and solar panel farms because they kill birds and vegitation. not to mention the drain on the system caused by the influx of illegal imigrantes. when people get fed up with the current system then and only then will something be done about this ever increasing problem.

Because the demand is at times greater than the capacity to meet it. In other words, not enough power generation facilities and an insufficient distribution system to deliver the amount of power that customers demand.

In large part because of the insane objections to building more nuclear power stations all over the US. Nuclear has the best safety record of any commercial power source, but the eco-terrorists in the US have effectively stopped their construction.

Don't know but, can you remember one august tenth when the whole western seaboard went. I was at my wedding reception. no wonder i'm divorced! LOL
