As the above answerer mentioned, the Bagley road exit on 71 is a good spot to stay. There are about 5 different hotels here, all pretty nice and it is a good neighborhood. These are in Middleburgh Heights and Berea. Another option is W.150 exit off 71 just as you get into the Cleveland city limits, there are 3 hotels. The Marriot here is nice.

Did u check out Independence? Off of Rockside there are PLENTY of hotels to choose from and it's right off of 77. So getting anywhere will be easy. Your choices are: Comfort Inn, Red Roof Inn, Clarion, Residence Inn, Courtyard, Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn, just to name a few. There are decent restaurants in the area, too. Very safe place... mostly business in the area. Also, just around the corner from Parma and a 5-10 min drive to North Royalton, if that makes a difference.

I would stay on the east side, near I-271 & Chagrin or Harvard exits. There are numerous hotels, restaurants, malls, etc. Your kids will love you. Just take I-71 to I-271 and exit at Chagrin or Harvard. The hotels include, Holiday Inn, Marriott, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Clarion, Hampton Inn, Super 8, Extended Stay, Embassy Suites, and Hilton. It will take 15-20 mins to get to the natural history museum.
I disagree with what the one person said about the neighborhood. It is nice and on the Wade Oval of University Circle. You can walk around there, walk to the art museum, severence hall, etc. Depending on the time of the year. Plus there is a parking garage at the natural history museum, so you dont need to worry.

The Alcazar is in Cleveland Heights, its closer to the Museums. Although many senior citizens live in the Alcazar, they are still a hotel. I stayed there acouple of years ago for my birthday it is a very nice clean safe place. The museum is just minutes away. The neighborhood the museum is in has cleaned up, its not as unsafe as some people are making it out to be. Plus keep in mind school is back in session, so the Case students are all out and about. People pay to much money for their kids to go to Case for the neighborhoods to be that unsafe. Also the Children's Museum is right down the street.
The only draw back to the Alcazar is that it doesn't have a pool. Why do you want to stay all the way on the west side of town if you're spending your time on the east? Check out Mayfield Hts for hotels as well. Oh and please excuse the mess in Cleveland we are under contruction, so keep that in mind when getting directions off the internet. Have fun.

The closest to the city you want to get is the Bagley road exit on I71 in Berea. I would recommend the Holiday Inn Select on Rt82 in Strongsville. It is right across the freeway from Southpark Mall (restaurants, indoor putt-putt, etc.)
It's about 20 minutes from the CMoNH.
Or, a little cheaper, check out the Holiday Inn Express - MEDINA. About 40 minutes outside of the museum.
Now the Museum is not in a great neighborhood. I would park right at the musuem and drive to other sites you want to see. Not a good area to walk around especially at night.
