Other countries actually think our Canadian accent sounds just right, for an interesting reason. The Canadian accent comes closest to what the main TV networks call "North American Standard English." That's why so many news anchors on CBS, NBC and ABC have been Canadian-born. A Canadian accent is easily understood by anyone in North America -- in fact by most English speakers in the Commonwealth and around the world.

To me, strictly on a PERSONAL level, yes. There is nothing "dorky" about any accent....and I have nothing against the Canadian, but it does hold for me certain personal connotations.
And Canadians don't speak "just like the Yanks." So called "Canadian English" (not including Newfie) IS distinct, although it is very similar to the WESTERN u.s. accent. It is not like the zillions of Eastern accents...from the part of the country first settled by English speakers. Check out my accent:

CBC is our national radio/television community. we've not got extensive alterations around the rustic, apart from the Maritime provinces which could have some tremendously reliable accents yet they are disappearing with each physique's get right of entry to to media. seem for a youtube video referred to as "newfie court docket". Hello,
Ditto to Will-o-the West. His point was explained years ago and Canadian brodcasters were chosen for that reason during WWII.
When speaking Spanish on my visit to Colombia, the people said they liked the way my accent came across in Spanish.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly

I don't think so... the only thing I have been told as a Canadian is that Canadians sound "proper"... so my guess is no. And only certain provinces say "aboot" and "oot" ... mine doesn't LOL.
Have a good one=)
