Also, if there is a way of finding out who this was, can they get in trouble? I heard this was illegal.

This happened to me after my ex husband left and even before then. There really isn't a way to prove who hacked into your account, just ways to prove it happened. The only way someone can really hack it is if they know stuff about you, like the answer to your secret question. I had to change my secret question to something nobody knew the answer to and since then, I haven't had any problems at all with anyone hacking my account, so I recommend you change you question, too.

i dont believe you can do anything. yahoo would have to get a sapina to have the logs reviewed. thats only if its a emergency as if someone was murdered or went missing.

change your password, go in and change your account settings. you cant go back in and change your birthdate (its on file and hidden for security reasons). you can change your zipcode to some phony zip that the person wouldnt know. also change your secret question and just put a really stupid answer for like a what is your highschool or something?
add numbers mixed with letters to really harden it up.

Yahoo can access the IP addresses that have used your account and that can be traced to the individual.

Unfortunately, you will need a court order before Yahoo will give ANY help. They are pretty much useless in these situations.

There are a lot of hackers out there, they can even take over your computer. I don't know how to do it. I found out that my x had me key logged. That is he knew everything I typed, what sites I went into, even when I spoke on the mic. It shows who also who you are communicating with. I didn't know it till I had a friend go into my computer and they removed it. Illegal, yes, you can also report him to yahoo.

Run the scans below to make sure you don't have a keylogger in your system. If there is that is how he is getting your passwords and everything else you are typing.

Update and run your Anti-Virus program. Don't have one? You can run a free online scan from CA.

Run Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware weekly.

Download, update and run Spybot---http://www.safer-networking.org/...... . Don't forget to use the Immunize feature.

For what it going to cost you and then go to court and he say he not do it and get off for lack of evidence it best to change your passwords A.S.A.P.
Yes, he will get off, as he can just say in court he left his door unlocked and someone came into his house and used his computer. It falls under "Public Access" in court!
