Yes and no. We attained independence from the English. And then we slowly mortgaged it to some cheap third rated uneducated unproductive politicians. When thats stops, we are genuinely independent.

This question is misused by "Supercool". The questions raised by him need to be answered.
Mr. Supercool,
at the time of partition, the Hindu population in West Pakistan was 21%. Where all the Hindus have gone. There might be some mosques abandoned by muslims during partion. But all of them are well preserved till date. What is the fate of Temples and Gurudwaras left by Hindus in Pakistan? Yoy are living in a Hindu majority state. You shall have to respect the Hindu sentiment, with law or withought.
You forget Kashmir. Time is not far away the remainder of the post Pakistan is also fragmented under fallacy of it's own policies. Huh Kashmir...

no we are not independent.atleast not yet.this i am basing on the facts that in our constitution we are give a right to speak our minds, but in reality we can see people being killed for speaking out their views in small villages mainly by the officials themselves.moreover, there is something called right to question but how many of the questions of common man has been answered.very few.

No, b coz a Muslim cannot slaughter his own cow either purchased by him or tamede by him from the childhood itself even having ownership enen inside the closed slaughterhouse. This is because Hindu faith is that a cow is his mother. Thus, a Muslim having a cow is actually a slave of Hindu that he cannot use his own thing according to his personal choice. It is another thing that everyday 20-30 thousand cows are secretly sold to Bangladest & sent through smuggling at the open border(reported by BBC last month) , most of them being the one who stopped giving milk. Similar smuggling is done at Barmer border of Rajasthan.
In Punjab & Haryana 3000 mosques are in the occupation of Jats , Sikhs & Govt machinary which are intact from outside but inside they're Temples, Gurudwaras , govt offices or converted into cowsheds whose original documents are well published but Muslims are not allowed to even come near them, forget about their use. Same is the condition of 200 mosques in Delhi. Two big books have been published with colour photographs & documentary records too with claims of Muslims too but of no avail.
Kashmiri people were given the right of self determination by UNSC in 1949 itself but Nehru did not allow that to be exercised to decide on fear of surely losing that , against the wishes of that disputes state(disputed declared by UNSC) & held a rigged election of ALL 75 members of the assembly of only half of state under Indian occupation elected UNOPPOSED & those unopposed elected members declared the WHOLE( & not half )state as a part of India though UN made it clear that such(Indian govt machinary imposed) assembly is illegal before the right of self determination & hence cannot take the decisions on thise things which come withinthe purview of UNSC, according to international law for any disputed territory. People of that WHOLE state rejected India's stand outright & started agitation to get their legitimate right from the beginning which increased tremendously from 22nd April , 1989 . For that they were responded by heavy over 10,000,000 military build up & oppression, repression & suppression killing 7,00,00,000 innocent local people though as per UN resolutions BOTH India & Pakistan were to REMOVE their armies from the parts of state with them to make it fit for FREE & FAIR exercise of (ONE STEP process DIRECTLY) right of self determination(REFRENDUM) under UN auspices ( & not under Indian auspices). This is freedom of people.
