Are you in CA? Have you had any issues with your power fluctuating? Brown-outs, etc? Were you in CA before when there were widespread power issues - if so, how long did it last, what was it like, etc.?

No problems as of yet. In 2001 we had the rolling blackouts. They power company would just pick a grid and shut it down. Sometimes they would notify big companies that they were going to turn off the power. A company I worked for in Aliso Viejo had "emergency" packs in all of the elevators. Held snacks, water, a deck of cards. Most of the rolling blackouts only lasted an hour or so. A large number of companies have since installed emergency generators at there locations because of this.

I'm in Ventura, California.
I have had no direct problems with power; but in recent years there have been requests to avoid using major appliances during peak hours, or there could be blackouts.
The last few days, we have had repeated warnings of this nature. Oddly, I don't find it too hot, and have not even been tempted to turn on the AC. I don't get it.

Born in 64' can't remember any power outages affecting my areas. We need in california to update our power grids, old fashioned. It would help also if we all pitch in to help the situation. Thats my 2 cents.
