If many of those young men had not used the baggy jeans to hide weapons or stolen goods this wouldn't have been a issue. But they did, so it is. Oh well.

Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey... the conformity band wagon is rolling into a state near you soon!
Do we live in a supposedly free country, or the Republic of Gilead, complete with sumptuary laws? "Throughout history, societies have used sumptuary laws for a variety of purposes. They were an easy way to identify social rank and privilege, and often were used for social discrimination."
While skip742 makes the valid point that there ARE bigger issues to tackle, ignoring the small drip in the pipes until it becomes a flood in one's basement isn't the answer either.

It borders on the insane. But it's hardly the most important issue facing America. I mean, I'd be thrilled if the world eliminated baggy jeans voluntarily...they're a hideous fashion statement. But that's hardly what government is for.

Still, aren't you just a little more concerned about a government that wants to wiretap your phones? Or one that wants to take more of your money in taxes? As stupid as this law is, it amazes me that people can focus on this and ignore such big elephants in the room.

It's just another example of people willing to accept ridiculous laws because they apply to someone else. They don't seem to realize that if they make baggy pants a crime, what else could be criminal? Can "they" tell all of us how to dress?

Gives new meaning to 'Fashion Crime'. Wow, that's news to me. I can't think of any form of attire that is now illegal. That is really weird and discriminatory. It's like arresting young girls who wear short miniskirts for fear of them being prostitutes! Makes no sense and is a load of trouble brewing, I think. Not good.
Sounds like the consumption laws of the middle ages where certain classes were only to wear certain clothes otherwise they'd be arrested.

It's about time someone made those dang plumbers pull their pants up.
Sorry I just couldn't resist that, but seriously it sound like the Georgia legislature has too much free time.

other than the weapon thing it's kinda dumb, cause not all of them are hiding weapons, and in schools i can understand, but out in general public when it's your time they shuldn't have a say on that as much as it's being pushed. It's like they're taking control of every aspect of daily life of people...

I think it's silly to legislate something because it has a negative social feeling.

We didn't allow it in the high school I taught in, but what people do on their free time is their discretion.

Are they going to ban women's long skirts next? What about the Arabs that wear very long dresses. Watch out in winter when you need an overcoat.
