No, I would not be happy. That means that the whole last 25 years of paying my bills off either on time or before they were due, would put me in the same bracket as all those people who hae 15 to 50 credit cards, have filed for bankruptcy five times, and have increased the rates on mortgages becasue they owe money they won't have to pay. The only way the Government could pull off clearing everybodies debt, would be by dipping into tax money reserved for other things. All that would do is increase everybodies taxes for the next 20 years. Hell no, I would not be happy.

Who wouldn't be happier? That would make everyone's life be easier. Well, except for the credit card companies. Been watching Fight Club much?

I would be thrilled... but what's the catch? Does that mean the government would pay off all my credit cards? My credit rating is in the 900's.

The country's broke as it is. I'd be scared as to how they'd manage to abolish the debt of an entire country. What would they take out of the system to create such a wealth? Or worse, what would they create? I don't trust the stuffed suits, no matter what they promise.

THat is a Socialist question. Russia fell apart, remember? Of course not. It took me ten years to pay off expenses from my divorce. Could have taken the easy way out-declared bankruptcy and gone on welfare. The Democrats live on that.
