It is way too early in the year to write any team off, (with the exception of Notre Dame maybe) we have only played one week. They have a good chance to run the table in the Big 10, as there is no real dominate team there this year. Lots of depth, but no great team. I like Wisconsin and Penn State a lot, and THE Ohio State is always decent at least. Give every team a handful of games to get into the flow before passing final judgment. Hell, I think they are going to thump the Ducks next week. A horrid loss will create the best week of practice the Wolverines have ever seen, making Oregon (sorry about this pun) sitting Ducks. There will be all 107k in the big house, and Oregon will see a double dose of Mike Hart. We already saw them give up 300 yards rushing to Houston.

If Appy State moved up to the bowl division they would probably be about the 50th best team.
The entire "big" 10 in the top 25 is over rated by about 10 slots, so Michigan is probably about the 15th best team in the country. So the 50th best team played a nearly perfect game and blocked a kick in the final seconds to beat the 15th best team.
Quite an accomplishment, but worthy of quite THIS much attention?
They are still one of the strongest, if not the strongest team in the "big" 10. They were just the team that got exposed this week from the conf. They still get to play teams like Wisconsin, Penn State, and Ohio State with inflated rankings, and they will beat them. They will make it to a very prestigious bowl and they will get stomped.

Henne had an off game and Hart still had 188 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns...in just three quarters. The ducks are cooked next week. The beat down G-Tech game ND wont even compare to the *** whipping a pissed off Michigan team gives them. If you think OSU is good. Look at this stat. Appalachian State beat Youngstown St. 49-24 last year. This year OSU beat youngstown st 38-6.

Michigan still looks good for one reason... If a team doesn't get fired up after a loss like that then they are a lost cause and they were not ranked Number 5 for nothing... And the fact that I don't see them losing back to back games this year they will still contend.... But as far as being in the top 25 they need to drop out for now and have to work their way up again... especially after a loss to a 1-aa team at HOME....

Its too early to tell one way or the other. I think they have a good team as far as talent, but what makes them sketchy (it hurts me to say this) is they appear to be a poorly coached team. I love Lloyd Carr but the man IS NOT and HAS NOT gotten it done. I think we can all agree that the current BIG10 is not the BIG10 of old where winning 8 games was impressive because they conference had 3 outstanding teams and 4-5 pretty good ones. The conference is not like that anymore. So when you are bringing in the type of talent that he brings in, and the expectations are what they are, you cannot be a sub .500 team in bowl games and lose 5 of 6 to your rival. They played the Buckeyes tough last season but they still lost!!! Lloyd Carr is the problem. They lost yesterday because they were over-confident, undisciplined, executed poorly and were not prepared. That is coaching people!!!

Yes they are good, they might not have played well against APP state but you also have to observe if you watched the game. If Michigan would have made that field goal, michigan would have won. I was impressed on their come back, sure they lost but look at how they lost,
they were going to kick a game winning field goal but App state got lucky and blocked it, that is just poor special teams. Michigan outplayed APP state, they had more yards than them but App st just got lucky towards the end of the game. Michigan could have won the game by a point but they were just unlucky.

This may be a stretch but it reminds me of about 10 years ago. This team, Northwestern who I had never heard of and wore the Godawfulest ugly purple uniforms beat Notre Dame, and then just about every Big Ten team they played. I kept saying the teams they were beating must really suck this year...next thing you know Northwestern has ten or so wins and I figure they're just good. App State may be that good...but more than likely theyt just had a great game and Michigan was off. So, yes I think they are still good.

Sure they are.
Look, first games can be dangerous, albeit they had no business losing to App. St. Sometimes you don't know where all your kinks are until Game 1. Often with college programs, the largest improvement is between games one & two.
If the coaches and players are determined to learn from this and put total focus into their practices and games, they may do quite well the remainder of the season. I wouldn't count out 10-2. Win 10, beat the Buckeyes, and it'll be all good.

Nope. They may have talent, but a #5 team doesn't lose to a D1-A team. So Michigan does not deserve to be in the top 25. GO BADGERS!!!!
