I moved a month ago during the summer to the Middle East, and I had my first day of school today, and I feel very homesick. I made friends, but I still have such a sad feeling ... I feel I don't belong, I feel out of place

I am very far from home (Canada), and I have had only one day of school... will this feeling pass? Or will I have it for the next couple of years?

=(

If you're still in school - hopefully you will connect with others in same situation. Are you in an American/English speaking school? if so don't worry about it - you'll be fine actually more than fine because they go above and beyond to make you feel at home - it's like starting first day of new school or h.s. you have anxiety because you know no one ... but that'll pass before you know it!!!

Have fun!

I'm sure it will pass as two significant things occur for you: (1) the "newness" of your surroundings becomes more familiar to you, and (most importantly) (2), as you begin to make new friends and associations. At that time, you'll be amazed just how small this planet actually is! Besides, these days Canada, the US, and just about everywhere else in the world is merely a mouse-click away, so keep in touch as time permits and have a great schoolyear.

what you are feeling is totally understandable, but yes, I think in time it will get better. for your sake, I hope so. try to keep busy, and do some new things.
