Does anyone know if it is possible to use batteries instead of transformers in the 'Twin wire' method of Doll's house lighting? Ie. where normally you would plug your lights into a socket strip and then the socket strip into the transformer, can you instead plug the lights into a socket strip and then into a special battery holder? If so, does anyone know of a (UK or UK shippable please) supplier of said battery cases?

Please give all the info you have on battery doll's house lighting, regardless of whether or not my specific questions above cover it :D as I have been completey unable to find anything useful on the web and am beginning to think I will have to fork out money for a transformer.

Thank you :)

Seems that you should be able to do that. The only place you might want to check is Hobby Shop places like: A.C. More, Hobby Lobby and there must be catalogs in these same stores that you order lighting from and they may have Link that you can ask your question.

We used to have a big flat battery, with the two flat poles at the top, as power for our dolls house lightning, before changing over to a transformer. (The battery was getting flat all the time, as we had many lights and used it often.)

If you can not find it at a dolls house suppliers, try to ask at a shop that sells models and houses for electric trains, matchbox cars, radio controlled cars and boats and alike, as they often use the same kind of wiring for their hobby projects.
And if they do not have it, they have the magazines and contacts to order it for you.
