Local wildlife experts say it is a fox with really bad mange. The person who caught it is having it genetically tested to be sure, according to the news last night.

I saw it. I don't know if it's the "Chupacabra" or not. Most eyewitnesses describe the creature as an animal walking up right or hopping like a kangaroo, and looks more reptilian. Of course, they've all only seen it in the dark.

It might be a new breed of dog, or as one vet put it, it could just have been from a litter of mutated dogs. If it is a previously unknown type of dog, it is possible it could be kind of like the vampire bat and bite its victims, then lap the blood up rather than eating the body. Hence, the animals are found drained of blood, but not mauled.

I think it's entirely possible the Chupacabra could be real. Whether this dog is it, who knows? Scientist will have to study it's DNA first to see if it really is a new species or what, and if it is, try to observe some live ones to see if they do attack and feed the way the Chupacabra does.

I think the chupacobra is a myth. Although, about 10 years ago in Poteet, Texas, just about 30 miles south of San Antonio, there was some kind of crazy animal found in someone's backyard. It was supposed to have looked like a mix between a bat and a goat or something. People were going to see it and news crews showed up, but before they were able to take many pictures, the government showed up and confenscated it....this is no joke. I know someone who went to Poteet to see it. It's crazy, but true. Some people said it was the chupacobra, but who knows?

It could be one of a mutant dog species that have escaped from Uncle Sam's genetic experiments somewhere in the desert. Lets wait fro the DNA test. I wouldn't be surprised if the ugly animal is plain old coyote wrongly engineered by some crazy scientist.

I don't think it is a Chupacabra because it doesn't fit the description. The most common description of Chupacabra is a lizard-like being, appearing to have leathery or scaly greenish-gray skin and sharp spines or quills running down its back. This form stands approximately 3 to 4 feet (1 to 1.2 m) high, and stands and hops in a similar fashion to a kangaroo.

I'm not sure if there actually is a chupacabra but the pictures I've seen on the net were "verified" and seems to show some kind of dog with mange or some kind of skin disorder. Maybe that's what you saw. People can do som much with photo-shopping and cutting and pasting that you can't even believe your eyes anymore (at least on the net).

I guess it's like a Tootsie pop..."the world will never know." lol =)

The Chup is a myth like Big Foot and the Lock Ness Monster. The animal the woman found is a dog. The only reason we have heard of this story is because the media is full of people who are either credulous or else like to have fun by playing with superstitious and ignorant people. This is nothing more than a fluff piece.

Yes, I saw the pictures yesterday. The article I read quotes a local veterinarian as saying these things are probably just mutated dogs, perhaps from the same litter. I definitely am leaning towards these things being canines. I don't know that they are the legendary Chupacabra, but they could be what had been killing animals in that particular Texas area.

It looked like a dog to me. I personally think that with all the DNA and hair samples collected from the site, and the results always being a dog, that if there was something else out there, we would have some physical proof by now.

I saw the pics and the woman is out to make money. It's a dog, not some crypto-creature.
