I have a ford expedition. last night i drove through a big puddle. I thought it would be better to drive fast through it. when i stopped the car it sounded kinda weird so i let it run for a fun mins and it seemed okay so i went inside. now today when i drove it, the motor jitters and doesn't run smooth. is it ruined?! can i still drive it until tomorrow?

I would not drive it for as long as convenient and give everything time to dry out. I would bet you have a wet sensor connection. If it is a damaged sensor, the ECM will probably trip the check engine light and throw a code. I don't think you have serious damage. But...

The problem with driving through big puddles is that you can get water into the intake. If you get enough water into the intake, it can cause bent psiton rods. Bent rods = bad and expensive. I have a friend that had that problem on a '99 Explorer 5.0. He some 20" deep water during a flood and it was sucked into the intake. The engine received 2 bent rods as a result.

You have some water on electrical contacts and you are experiencing some intermittent short circuits. The heat of running the truck dried them out from the area but residual liquid seeped back. You should be fine once all the water evaporates. I had a Volvo that would short out every time I went through a bad puddle because the designers put a main wire junction low on the engine block. I used to have to unscrew the holding nut, wipe off the connection loops and reattach for the car to continue.

the water has splashed up and got something wet like the plug wires or a coil or a cap, you,ll need to check everything in under the hood to make sure it didn't knock any wires loose,id say it just got a good dose of water on the engine, good luck with it.

Water and electrical don't play well together. Hopfully when it dries out you'll be ok. But this also tells you that you have a bare wire, bad connector or bad plug wires somewhere.
