It is annoying that many questions get absurd to insulting answers, because people do not bother to check the spelling of their text. Some, even get insulting answers due to misunderstandings by the fact that the words are not correctly spelled or the punctuation is wrong or missing.

What is very surprising is that people of higher education are the most habitual un-orthographic persons.

I did not mean to insult dyslectic people, since I can understand their difficulty. So, sorry guys.

Dear teacher I will never do it again. But give me the chance to explain.

It looks like, all you, high and mighty TC's up on your horses, are very sensitive to the fact that English is your second language. It is for me too, my second language and although I do not use it everyday, I try to be as much correct as possible to get my meaning crystal clear .The fact that the question was posted intentionally one step before the last, seems that touched on someones' sensitivities.
If you feel insulted, I am sorry, but I can not alter the fact that like me, you also make mistakes. So, let's all of us get off our horses.

Hmm.
This statement is untrue.
Your statement is set to include ALL people with English as a secondary language (or perhaps it is even a third language).

As a non-native speaker, i`m usually surprised that most americans do not have a full command of the English language.
Of course, they can be said to speak (and therefore write) american, not English, but still...

I think that sometimes people do not realize how they come across when using MSN speak, or phonetic English.
The most important thing here, in my somewhat less than humble opinion, would be that we, as answerers, understand what the person is trying to ask.
If that has been accomplished, there is no need for annoying "you do not use the language correctly".

However, i do, on occasion repeat a question i answer, to state HOW i understand a question. If that means the person gets offended because i inadvertently would attack his/her spelling, that cannot be my problem.

So, make sure your question is understandable, and clear - no matter how you write it.

I believe that people who think too much of themselves try to put others down. It is true that the English language is being ruined with slang and text messaging language. As an English teacher I see all sorts of problems. I teach teenagers however so it is to be expected. This site is full of teenagers. There is also the obvious typo of which I myself am guilty from time to time.

The word "dyslectic" is not a proper noun so therefore it does not need to be capitalized. "Or punctuation?" is a fragmented sentence. I would not have corrected these minor details had your question not been slightly elitist. I think that in general people have become less compassionate for each other. This trend is something I see as the beginning of the end. So my dear the old adage, "those who live in glass houses, should not throw stones"is appropriate. "Judge not lest you be judged." Next time keep your post positive. Perhaps a suggestion that others use spell check is enough. After all more people learn from reading positive feedback than negative. I am sorry if I hurt your feelings but I think that you need to be more sensitive.

As a person with English as second language, being dyslectic too, I feel personally attacked because of this question.

I do use the spell checker, and I find that it does not get even half the errors out. And I do prefer the English spelling above the American, but because the way this site is set up I have to live with the American spell checker.
A spell checker that allows a word like 'confaice' at times, does not accept 'spell' and stops working when the text does get a little long.

Many people who make the effort to write in a language not their own, so you can understand them, will suffer from the same problems.

But I spot many people for whom English is the first language that clearly do not use the spell check. Who mix words completely different like site and sight.
Who use hard to understand (unless you are thinking in English 100% of the time) subtractions and substitutes like m8 and b4 (which look for me like 'macht' and 'b-vier'.)

Believe me, people who are dyslectic, and have learned more than one language use spell check, it is the lazy Americans, often in Highschool, who are the worst when it comes to spelling.

And it is people who do not give others leeway in spelling and punctuation that make life hard for people who reach out and make an effort to use a language not their own, that, however poorly, gets their meanings accross.

people get critical of others because they are mean spirited... I believe many people become critical when then can't win the arguement/debate.... it's somewhat Grade-School .... I agree with you... instead of beating these people down who MIGHT have made a mistake in what they write or say .. we should praise them for their efforts.... I have been told English is a rather hard language to learn, (EDIT) ... I disagree with the person who said English is easy to learn.(but I agree with the sentiment of their post).. as I have been told by many people who have learnt English as a second language ... and the examples I will give MIGHT help explain why ..... their there three words all sounding the same they're Saw sore see sea and silent letters knife Lamb Comb gnome and there are many many more.... THEN we have difference between the way English speaking people's spell words .. .Colour/Color Humour/humor etc etc ..

Why r u asking, m8??? ;-)

Please, let your own people learn and write proper English first and then attack others with English as second, third, or fourth language! How can you dare to expect us using the spell check when Brits and Yanks don't but especially some(!!) of the latter showing us the worst type of English?!

How many foreign languages do you speak? And what would you do in our place if you saw many native speakers writing such a(n) (un-orthographic, dyslectic) crap themselves all the time? Are we supposed to teach YOU??? No, of course we're not! Anyway, a lot of us are at least trying hard to write understandable English.

I have no problem at all excusing errors made by people who are not native English speakers. The people who annoy me the most are those who are native English speakers, but who cannot be bothered to use even somewhat careful grammar and spelling. Many obviously do not read what they wrote. Everyone makes an occasional typo, but some people are just plain rude .

Try to learn a foreign language. Than you are allowed to judge about someone, who learned english as a second, third or even fourth language.

I think it is ridiculous to be annoyed about the spelling of users, witch native language isnt english.
They try to help someone and whats your answer? Spell correct...

Ich könnt mich tierisch über sowas aufregen....
