Do you mean the condensed versions? My aunt gave me a couple of versions of Reader's Digest Condensed Books, which contained 4 stories each. Each "story" tells you the basics, but doesn't go near as in depth as the original, of course. But you still have pretty much the beginning (how the main event comes about) the middle (the main event itself) and the ending. (how it all ends up) I enjoyed them, but I prefer reading the whole thing. You develop more of a "relationship" with the characters and can get more into the story.
