Hello. I am 12dpo/28cd and I've had a dip in my temperature this morning. After ovulation, my temps increased and fluctuated around 97.6-98.0. My coverline is 97.3 and today I checked with two different thermometers few times and read 96.6, 97.1, 96.8. I checked at the same time that I check every morning. Husband and I did come home late and didn't sleep till 2-3am. (I normally check at 6am). Also, we sleep with the ac/fan every night so I don't know if that made a difference.

My cycles can range 31-34 days so I still have few days until my period starts. Most of the charts that I've seen on fertilityfriend.com and tcoyf.com, the temp dips below coverline and period started. I have NO signed of period starting.

Do you think today's temp was a fluke, implantation dip or period will start in next few days?

Also, I ovulated on CD 16 (positive opk on cd 15) and doc confirmed last week that I did ovulate when blood test was taken. I don't have PCOS and I've already had uterus/ovaries checked so everything is good inside :)

So if I ovulated CD 16, the longest for a luteal phase is 16, correct? Which means that the longest this cycle can be is 32 days?

Thanks in advance!!

Just took a pregnancy test: ClearBlue Early and negative :( So I'm assuming since I'm 12dpo, the results are correct, right? (It wasn't first morning urine)

I think today's temp was affected by your lack of sleep. Sleep deprivation can beat up your BBT chart, believe me...I work full time and I'm an MBA student and charting is impossible with the bizarre sleep hours I keep.

I wouldn't rule out pregnancy yet. One dip in and of itself doesn't carry a lot of weight, it's the overall pattern that counts. Try to get some sleep tonight and take your temp as usual tomorrow.

While the longest luteal phase is 16 days, it normally doesn't vary with each woman, so whatever yours has been, it should still be that magic number this cycle.

As far as the AC issue goes, if you always sleep with it on, then your temps shouldn't reflect anything different. Consistency in your routine is the key to charting (which is also the thing that makes it difficult). However, if one night you don't sleep with the AC on, your temps may reflect that. So, as long as you're consistent, all is well.

Good luck.

Going to bed alot later makes a difference. I would mark the temp, but mark that your sleep cycle was off.

16 days is usually the longest a luteal phase will be. A luteal phase usually doesn't vary each month though, so if your luteal phase was 14 days last month, then you should expect it to be the same this month. The way I knew I was pregnant 2 months ago was when I had high temps on the 13th day after ovulation, since my luteal phase is 12 days.
