Heh . . . I have no idea what kind of poor, pampered, snivelling excuses for men some of the posters in this thread hang out with, but the whole thing is really giving me some major ex-wife flashbacks!
It was a major source of difficulty between us---when I'm sick, I'm like a feral animal gone to ground. Leave. Me. Alone. In. My. Cave. Dagnabbit. I don't even want to be *talked* to, let alone "mommied" or "pampered."
She, on the other hand, needed to be soothed and petted and comforted and waited on hand and foot if she had so much as a sniffle. Apparently, as a guy, I was supposed to know this without ever having been told . . . either that, or I was playing hooky the day they passed out the manual.
At any rate, whenever she was sick, I'd treat her as *I* would have wanted to be treated: make sure she's still breathing, then live her the heck alone. And she, desperate for "mommying," would actually call her *mother.* Long distance. Just to have somebody coo over her and say "poor baby." o_O
On the other hand, on the rare occasions when I got sick . . . she wouldn't leave me ALONE. Because that's what SHE would want. Drove me crazy, lol. Used to hafta throw things at her to get her to leave! *G*

No, I'm fighting a cold too right now, and I don't feel like doing anything either. To me it does not sound like you're acting immature. If you don't feel well, you don't feel well - that's not your fault.
A bad cold can really knock you down. I can't force myself to do many of the tasks/activities I normally do when I'm feeling as sick as I do right now.
I say, grab a pillow, a blanket, a box of tissues and snuggle up in front of the DVD player or with your laptop and get some rest!

I thought that all men acted like babies, most of the time...
... sorry my mistake! (only joking)
If you are feeling poorly, you should listen to your body, I would drink lots of fluid, take vitamins and sleep as much as you can. If you don't feel like going out, don't! You would put a useless strain on your body, which could lead to secondary (bacterial) infections.
Give your body time to recover. Undortunately, colds are caused by viruses and there are not yet available cures for that (antibiotics do not work!). Just be patient, you will be fine.
Trust me, I am a doctor (well, a PhD, but pretty close!)

I don't want to generalize *cough, cough*, but usually a cold can take a man down faster that a hot woman wearing only stilettos.
Women (remember, I'm generalizing) are care-givers by nature. So while the young man-child is going up, his needs are usually met by Mom. Mom feeds him, bathes him, cuts the crust off of his toast etc... When the young man-child grows up to become the man of today, he still needs that care-giver.
It's all our fault!!! In the 'courtship' stage of the relationship, we assume that role. If we are a new couple and you get sick...awww... I'm gonna pamper you and make you soup, tip-toe around the house and make sure that your every need it met!
But now .... I don't want another child, I want my MAN.
Four days isn't bad for a cold. I've been down and out longer, but here's the key....
Are you whining??? My husband will get whatever he wants, as long as he doesn't whine about it.
(((((sanitary kisses)))))

when i have a cold i certainly have no interest in going outside (or doing anything really) so no, i don't think you are being a baby. she's probably just a little bored and fed up herself. why not try to do a few things round the house, just so she doesn't feel like it is up to her to do everything.

You just don't feel good. Probably some fresh air would do you good. Even if you sit out in a lawn chair.
I'm a Mom so I have to be near death before I can stop taking care of others.

I have never heard of a male that was NOT a baby when they were sick. The biggest burliest of the lumberjacks turn into babies when they are sick. I suppose it is a genetic thing..
Take care of yourself Jack & get well soon..
