If you are getting the state quarters from change, then the hardest ones will be the ones from the mint that is the furthest away. On the east coast it is easy to get all the Philadelphia mint ones but not the Denver ones and of course on the west coast it is the exact opposite. With the mintage figures in the 100's of millions none are really rare. The scarcest are the silver proof quarters from 1999. A lot of people don't know that a true complete set of quarters includes the P & D mint marked for regular circulation, the clad mint S mint marked proofs as well as the S mint marked silver proofs. Starting in 2005 the mint sets were change to a satin finish so i guess they maybe needed also to say one has a complete set of state quarters. Sounds like a pain right? So you collect the way you want too. A set of the quarters from circulation may never be worth a lot, but sure is a challenge if you try to find buth P & D quarters.

i am currently collecting the state quarters and for me the hardest ones are new york, north carolina, and california. alaska was one of my first and indiana and georgia are the latest two i have gotten. i live in oklahoma and that one was hard to get i just recently got that one too. i dont care if they are p's or d's i was just wanting all 50 states. my collection has only taken me 2 weeks so far. good luck!

This link shows the mintages of the quarters which have been released so far. The coin with the lowest total mintage is Wisconsin. It had 453,200,000 minted. This number is still very high so I'd say you'll probably be able to find it.

I am currently collecting state quarters and for me I just have to find Wisconsin and Illonois so I guess I would have to say those based on my experience.

All of the state quarters are worth $0.25. Anything less than that would be insane.

Honestly there are no rare state quarters. Unless you count errors. Even the silver proofs are relatively still cheap.

I ve been keeping the ones I find that are new for years and I still have never seen the District of Columbia one, which is weird because I live in the DC suburbs.
