Yeah , they're a right c**t to get into some of them glow plugs.
Warm up the engine first before trying to loosen them and after detaching the feeder leads and pulling them clear, fit a deep socket over the plug, usually 17mm or 19mm socket. You may have to remove the intake manifold from off the top of the engine to get any purchase on the ratchet when you try to loosen it. Spray something like 'Plus Gas' around the base of the plug seat if it does not shift and leave for a few minutes to soak down into the threads. Loosen a little bit at a time, turning back and forth to help clear clogged threads while a friend, or conscripted person squirts a little Plus gas into the threads while you work it.
When fitting new plugs, apply a little copper ease to the threads before replacing in the bore. Do not over tighten.
Re-attach intake manifold. Re-attach feeder leads. Start van.
Hey Presto!!!
Hope this helps.

What year of van is it? I know that my old GM 6.2 can be a pain in the rear to get to all the glow plugs.

Unless you take it to a Garage, it might be easier to use Easy Start
