Spec is okay.
But would u really want to take Vista. Incompatibility issue, high probability of unable to us eyr existing printer, accessories , software as many manufacturers are still without driver for Vista.
Have a check on this matter before u make the final decision.

You don't specify what the CPU speed is, nor do you tell us how much RAM the video card has, so it's hard to give you an opinion without doing a lot of research.
The other thing you left out is the price.
As far as the rest is concerned is OK but nothing special.
The biggest detriment I see off hand is the small 17" monitor. I wouldn't buy it for that reason alone. There are way to many deals out there for systems better than this and come with either a 19" or bigger monitor.
The other things I feel are a detriment is that it's a Gateway, and secondly that you're buying it from Best Buy.
Best Buy doesn't have the best deals and prices by far. Don't be fooled by the name.
If you really want a Gateway, buy it from Gateway. If you would like a Dell or an HP buy it from them whenever you can. The manufacturers always have the best deals for the money. Just watch their sales for a while and jump on what you feel is a really good deal.
The other thing I'd say is: Don't waste your money on an extended warranty. They all warranty the items for at least a year for free. If a computer part is going to fail, it will normally fail in its' infancy and not so much as it get a little older. Extended warranties are nothing but a "bet against the house" and amounts to nothing more than giving away your money for nothing in return.
Don't you think that if the product wouldn't live for the extended warranty period that the manufacturers/retailers wouldn't be offering the warranties?
Well that's my "humble" opinion. Hope this helps.

If you replace your computer's RAM with bigger capacity chips, it doesn't matter how many slots you have, unless you're kicking around 1GB on one chip, then it doesn't get much better than that. Hard Drive Space... You can get an external Hard Drive that plugs into USB, and a power jack, and it would function just like a normal hard drive on your computer. Or, a decent computer tech at BestBuy or Circuit City can UPGRADE your hard drive by copying all your current stuff onto a new bigger one. And it's not expensive at all. ($40-60 for an automatic transfer.) Once you have the bigger one, you can keep the smaller one for backup or in case you get a new system with more slots.

looks great to me I would get a bigger monitor tho... 17" is so 2004ish... but if it;s a package deal you can aways ebay it and buy a bigger one.
also it depends on who makes it?? and what kinda support it comes with... mail in replacement or on-site support.
