We the people of the United States are ultimately responsible for what goes on in our own government...
Isn't it time for us to all become responsible citizens and step up to the plate instead of blaming everyone else?
Or, do you prefer to leave it to others?

Um OK so this is what i think.... agree or disagree it is my opinion.... We as a nation of One... Do Not have a voice within our government! Sure we vote for and against but it is ultimately left to our government to carry out what we have voted for and against! Our "government" is so caught up within its own "special intrest groups" that they have not and will not listen to the voices of their people! As for "balming others" i see that more within ourselfs than our governmet and that is a sorry state of affairs... because that means we have failed our children in raising them to be responsible for themselfs and their actions! As a "government" we need to take care of the needs of the people in our own back yard before we open the gate and let the other needs and problems in! If we are going to send our boys to fight for a countries freedom then get in there and GET THE JOB DONE... do not sit on our hands trying to please everyone but our own people! And next time lets go after the REAL bad guy here the one who brought our great, wonderful nation to her knees...not the one who creates terror within his own country... let his people take care of themselfs... right now we have enough on our own plate to take care of................. *big sigh* now I am sure there are those who will disagree but because we live where we live we do have the right to free speech and that is only one of the things our great nation allows us................. Peace to all who read this.......

Okay this question is completely biased---WHo would disagree

By the way this did not just happen yesterday, its been occuring for centuries in every country..--When I am saying this I am refering to what we are blaming everyone else for and that has been occuring for centuries.

Oh and how exactly do you expect us to step up to the "plate" and what is the plate exactly---You are the type to talk and not to do because you dont know how

And you are giving generalization on americans, by calling all of us not responsible and that we have not steped to the plate---You need to get with the program and step to the plate because I already have..

Here is the answer your looking for:

Hell yea, we need to step up to the plate and become responsible and stop blaming the government

Dispute: First of all I steped up to the plate so speak for you self, instead say You need to step up to the plate, not me. I never blamed the government for anything and I am responsible.

Essentially this is what democracy is - elected officials to do the things that we want to get done, on our behalf.
Of course it isn't perfect because it suffers from one fatal flaw. The elected officials, just like us; they are far from perfect. But yet when we put them in a position to do what we want them to do, we ignore this fact and get angry when they fail - and of course they will.
We can only hope that the one we voted for will do the best they can, and accept it when they do screw up. We think we can always do a better job, and in some respects we are right, so you run for office and those around you then put you in the same regard as you did with your officials. And of course you do the best you can, but you will not be perfect and you will make mistakes. And so the cycle continues.

It is a good system, but as I said it has it's problems. People make the system, but at the same time the system makes the people.

agree,

problem is we are having to choose the lesser of two evils....when you have the lies of oil companies and pharmaceuticals buying elections the common public never has a chance to get the right thing done......rich keep getting richer and the rest get by, barely
the only thing we can do to send the message is to remove the incumbents, sending a clear picture that the office is not for sale....removing the balance of power from the Republicans in such a sweep sent a huge message to Washington.....with corruption issues Republicans are facing along with the Mike Foley's and Larry Craig's when are we going to stand up and say no more!!!!!!!!!!!
i am surprised that the simple fact of Katrina in a country with the capacity of technology we have, was so caught up in bureaucratic bull and incompetence........

^I agree, I would never leave it to others. We need to get out and vote in 08.

Look into issues that are important to you and write to congress, senators etc. give your input before a bill is passed or denied.

I received a letter from President Bush, of course some else wrote it, he can't put two words together, I was hoping for a picture, I needed a new dart board.

AGREED. If people REALLY want bush out of office they should take responsibility and vote next time or try to make it possible impeach him. Not just sit there in front of the television whining about whatever bush has done again.
