You might point out that it is a hobby that could lead to learning a good trade, such as aeronautical engineering, electronics, etc.
Your age is also a factor, as RC planes are NOT for the very young, for safety reasons if nothing else. (A fast spinning propeller can do damage to you and other things!)

There are several other decisions such as the type of power the plane uses (Electric Power which is quiet, or nitro/gas which is noisy and costs more due to fuel etc.)
WHERE you will fly the plane. (IF you have to go a long way, or can fly nearby.) AND,
a related question as to the size of plane. Bigger planes take more space to take off and land.
Who will help you learn to fly it, (look for a local flying club.) Possibly you could get her to go watch them being flown and talk with some of the club members.

I have been flying for over 40 years.
I live in a rural area. (MY personal airstrip is a graded 1000 foot 'runway' strip on the a 40 acre field out behind the house!)

I ALSO make a little bit from some of the local ranchers occassionaly by using a plane mounted video camera and transmitter to help locate and/or check the condition of livestock in 'rough' country. (Quicker to fly over than ride over, cheaper than a full size plane rental.)
NOTE: "regular" RC transmitters do NOT have the "range" for this type of flying, I ALSO have both a commercial and an amateur radio license, and special radio equipment!

Hope this helps.

My advice is its either save you allowance to buy an RC of your own or either go find a job be a newspaper boy or something so that you can save money in that case you can buy your own!

If you would be buying the airplane with your mother's money, then she has a right to determine what her money is or is not spent on.

Earn your own money and buy one with your own money. You must also buy all of the gas and do all of the maintenance and upgrading with your own money.

No they're fun as hell but i have my AMA licence and have to pay like $55 a year to use the field to fly.If you do get one get a trainer and don't fly it until you meet people to help you cause it's alot harder then you think,it would suck to take it out on your 1st flight and desroy it.
