As one of the poor, I can honestly tell you that the only "help" I got was to be denied the help I needed. The social worker told me it was due to budget cuts. I applied too late. the little bit of money they had was spent. I was unable to get hired anywhere for anything for 9 months (lots of business in my area shut down). Thank GOD, (literally) for the food pantries at the churches. My family was split up, homeless but no shelter to go to because again, budget cuts. I finally got a job through a temporary agency, lived in my vehicle until I saved enough money for an overpriced dumpy apartment so I could bring my family back together. I met a number of people like myself and I also met a number of people who for no better reason than they could, got help they really didn't need. The social programs are flawed. They have been flawed for years and no administrtion has really done anything to fix the flaw. They merely made it harder to get help for the newly poor. Now I am unable to buy a home. No place to rent and again, my family is split up. Not to mention, now the public schools charge fees for what use to be free. Go figure!

my paycheck did change it's getting smaller and not because of taxes because of health insurance that keeps going up more then my pay does. heck if it keeps going this way I'll soon be paying my employer to work.
(oh yeah the question)
What have George W. Bush and Bill Clinton done to help the poor in their administration?

Not much but I guess you could say the child tax credit.

Government can only do so much. The poor need to help themselves and their local communities (NOT FEDERAL GOVERNMENT) need to be there for support through private charity.

Let's see...........Bill Clinton RAISED taxes, while George Bush LOWERED TAXES. Just lowered them for the rich? Guess again..........

* Bush implemented three major tax relief bills, granting tax relief to 109 MILLION AMERICAN TAX PAYERS and eliminated five million low income tax payers from paying income tax altogether.

* Bush increased the child tax credit from $500 to $1,000

* Bush eliminated the marriage penalty tax for lower and moderate income taxpayers

* Bush provided 25 million small business owners with tax cuts averaging about $3,000

* Bush eliminated the death tax

* Bush reduced taxes on capital gains.

Bottom line is that every single American (who works and pays taxes) has benefited from Bush's tax cuts. I know it's more fun to insist that Bush is evil and that he only cares about the rich and big business, but ironically his tax cuts worked! Still don't believe me? Look at your paycheck! (if it's lower is it because you were taxed more? Or because you have a lower paying job?)
