If you have it on an A/C adapter, yes. You may want to only do it when necessary, since computers require a lot of electricity. If you can leave it on "hibernate" that would be best. If you're downloading lots of information and that's the reason you want to leave it on all night, it's a great idea. Some people do it while they are also trying to work on their computer, and it makes everything slow down. Defragging at night is best, too. Just make sure you turn off your screen saver.

My laptop never gets turned off. My husband uses the nighttime as download time.

You can, but it wouldn't be good for the laptop. The electronic components in the laptop generate a lot of heat which could affect the performance of the laptop. The battery could also damage the system.

Laptops aren't really meant to be on for long periods of time due to the fact they they get too hot and don't have very good cooling systems built into them so you are likely to fry sensitive components.
If you are using your laptop for long periods of time you can improve the cooling by buying a notepad/laptop cooler as this will improve the air flow and cooling abilities.
You can get these from amazon for about £10 -£20

Yes. I haven't turned mine off for about 2 weeks. If it's not going to be doing anything then it's a bit pointless leaving it on but if your downloading something or doing any task that takes time then yeah, you can leave it on.

Yes you can but I doubt the battery will last that long. If the power adapter is connected, yes you leave it on.

Just make sure the it is on a well ventilated area to avoid overheating/crashing.

yes. pc's and laptops are designed to be left on for 24h...it is actually better for all computers to be left on rather than being swithced off all the time.
