Because it was probably answered by one of their friends, so they had to pick it....and thats too bad, because there are so many great answers out there, and people take alot of time to make sure they give great answers, then the asker picks a stupid answer or one that doesnt make sense at all....... It makes you wonder why they ask the question in the first place..........but dont give up....... maybe the askers will finally start reading their answers and actually pick the best one....... not their friends answers....

Yahoo Answers is not to be considered a definitive source of information!
The asker has the right to pick any answer of they choice. If they choose not to pick an answer it's up to the voters.
Most of the time answers are helpful but not always.
e.g. Yahoo Answers can be a guide but should not be used as substitute when medical advice is needed. If one thinks they might be pregnant don't wait for an answer here, take a test or see a doctor.

You are 100% correct. I think it has to do with beauty in the eye of the beholder, 'cause is sure has nothing to do with picking the Best or most informed or accurate answer.
example:
I just moved into a new apt blah, blah, blah, what kind of plants should I decorate with?
I also have a kitty.
Best Answer chosen ....Yucca plant
ASPCA Toxic Plants for Pets

- Yew (aka Japanese Yew)
- Yucca
Good Bye Pretty Kitty
PS.................

To Steven....Yes the asker can pick what ever!

I certainly do not see any reason to delete your answer.
I suspect that the Yahoo staff receives far too many flagged responses to read them all. I suspect that if a response is flagged the response is automatically deleted I doubt that anyone at Yahoo Answers even reads it.
With respect to why the asker chose that particular answer only the asker knows.

Most people receive information from newspapers. As a very famous man said, If you do Not read newspapers you are uninformed. If you Do read newspapers you are misinformed. So why are you surprised that the answer that you were expecting was not forthcoming.
"even answer the question whatsoever" perhaps you could keep to correct English.

I have noticed some of the most deserving questions get overlooked for best answer. Now don't get me wrong most answers are good, but usually you get one answer that stands out from the rest with alot of helpful recommendations to help you. Yes, i feel alot of it has to do with who the asker is friends with when choosing best. If you ask me it should all be as those questions that go to voting. the top votes wins.

It's called freedom of choice.
Anyone, like me, who was at Uni in the 60s should be aware of the manipulations which are made when collecting 'statistics'. You can restrict your sampling to 5-bed roomed houses in villages surrounding Ascot or you can choose to make your sampling in poorer areas of the former cotton towns in East Lancs.
As we used to say: 'If all the students in Cambridge were laid side by side, I wouldn't be at all surprised.'

There should be no feelings of injustice, every one has the right
to choose the answer that suits them best . If you will but understand that all minds are not equally developed. What to you is right, and I agree, however may not be right for the other person.
