wow there are a lot of people in this question that don't know what thewir talking about right now. They can't be ranked in the FBS because they are in the FCS. The FBS is the football bowl subdivision, which is the level we all watch with all the big schools. This was formerly 1-A. The FCS is the football championship subdivision, which was formerly 1-AA. App. State is in the FCS, so they cannot be ranked in the FBS. They are ranked number 1 in the FCS though, and if they did move up, they prbably would only go about 4-8, or 3-9 because Michigan lost that game. They played great, but Michigan just played way below their potential. And after that upset i was extremely happy because i am an Ohio State fan. But afterwards i thought about it and i knew everyone would start that Big Ten is over-rated crap again. Go ahead and say what you want, but i don't think it is.

App state played their but off and Michigan in fact the whole Big ten was overrated last year they started out ranked high and only played other teams in the big 10. LSU or USC should have been in the championship last year playing with Ohio state. But you can't stop a team starting #1 and playing no one.
I think App has proven they should move up to Division A ball. They are better than many schools in their state such as Duke, UNC, NC State, Wake Forest and others who are in the big division.
Go App.

Look guys, Appy state would probably be about the 50th best team if they moved up.
The entire "big" 10 in the top 25 is over rated by about 10 slots, so Michigan is probably about the 15th best team in the country. So the 50th best team played a nearly perfect game and blocked a kick in the final seconds to beat the 15th best team.
Quite an accomplishment, but worthy of quite THIS much attention?

I always been a fan of Applachian St.,they should be in Division ! in the first place. Last year they went undefeated and Their HalfBack scored like 4tds in their Championship Bowl Victory over UMASS I think. App State should in D-1 and Ohio-State is going to destroy Michigan.

Appalachian St. is a Division 1-AA school so they are not eligible to be ranked in the Division 1-A rankings.I'm sure they will be ranked #1 in the 1-AA polls.

Is being ranked No. 1 considered to be in the top 10? I think so. They can't be ranked in the Bowl Division Polls (formerly known as D1 or D1-A), because they are in the Championship Division(formely known as D1-AA).

No. Appalachian State should not be ranked in the top 10. But, of course, neither should Michigan.

Too early in the season to put a school like that in the top 10. They need to beat another powerhouse before you can say it was not fluke.

Sorry, but no. Beating a vastly overrated Michigan team doesn't merit you Top 10 status.
