56 year old dinosaur, are you getting to know me yet :) what kind of dvd, cd or exact thing do I need to use to save digi pics to and I have always saved them to my computer folder for fun. Now they are being stored for legal evidence for my attorney so i need to know exactly what to do and how to do it.

just put aCD+R then u will see a new empty widow then make copy or cut on ur pics n make past in the empty widow

I recommend using a CD rather than a DVD, as some players will NOT 'read' photos from a DVD.
Use a widely used 'standard' format such as 'jpeg' for your transfered pics.

I assume you have CD burning software. READ the instructions.
