Hi, for the last couple of weeks all the clothes i wash in my washing machine come out stinking!!! Raw, stuffy smell as if they had been there for 2 monthes, not for 2 hours. I have tried chaning my washing powder and my conditioner, different combinations but still that smell is still there. It is really pissing me off!!! Ok, I have other problems, but it is really imprtant for me when I do the washing that clothes smell nice. I checked teh filter too - it is fine, some water came out and that is it. The machine is about 5 years old, but it works fine, it doesnt seem to have any otehr problems. Right now I am covering up the smell in the tumble dryer with some lenor stuff, but it is still not the same. PLease help or I am going to smash that thing!!!

I have just realized that my husband had this machine before we got married, now there is a chance it has never been cleaned before. :)))) I am going to try the baking soda and vinegar. Can I put it in normal compartments for washing powder (for soda) and conditioner (for vinegar).

Try running the washer on an empty load, hot as it can be with a cup of baking soda, then during the rinse cycle add half a bottle of vinegar. That should help clear out any of the smellies! :)

I would think that using hotter water would kill the odor causing bacteria, but if the material can't take it (see the tag) try presoaking it seperately.. mix up the detergent in a big plastic pitcher and put the blouse in it. Then after letting it soak for a half hour, dump out the liquid, rinse it off in the sink and put it in the regular wash. One other thing you could do just as you put it in the wash (after presoaking) is spray it with spray and wash, or add some simple green to your wash.

Try running the machine with the water level the highest it can be, empty of clothes with lots of clorox in the water. Let it run the full cycle. That may clean out whatever is smelling bad. Run a load of whites after in case any of the clorox remained.

You can try a cup of ordinary baking soda in the pre-wash. It has helped me remove smells from my wash. Tide is now offering a detergent with Baking Soda in it. Hope this helps!

Nicole L is right..it works
Most smell from a machine is RUST in the machine.....try taking out the agitator and see if there is a rust build up or anything else in there...

vinegar and baking soda are wonders in cleaning.
once a month pour it on your compartments and do normal wash.
