Getting a new computer for parents and wonder if it can connect just by plugging in the cable from modem - router without any additional software or configuration. I believe my own winXP did but was 2 yrs ago and not sure. This is not a wireless system btw..I know it was a mess with win 95 and 98 as I recall. The easier it is the better.

If the router/modem has a regular network CAT5 cable (looks like a phone cord just bigger) then yes, just plug it into the new computer.

yes you can...just plug in the CAT5 cable to the ethernet port at the back of the cpu...then go to network connections, right click on that connection then click "enable"

If it's a CAT-5...Yes.
If it's a USB...No.You'll need drivers.
