Because our system make is very difficult for a 3rd party to get traction.
In order to put pressure on Republicans and Democrats, about 30-50 million of us needs to get behind another party (and, not a single candidate).
I was hoping that www.unity08.com might be able to do this, but there are only 125,000 people signed up ... a drop in the bucket of what's needed.

Democrats and Republicans fight much the same way pro wrestlers in the WWE fight. At the end of the day, Republicrats work for the same company, so to speak.
If you're tired of authoritarian phonies, give the Libertarians, Greens, or Constitution Party a chance. Elections are not lotteries; you don't get a prize for predicting the winner.

The Republicans and the Democrats don't want a third party to "spoil" elections. So they figure if they spend hundreds of millions of dollars to campaign they will make the cost of a third party struggling to become politically solvent so high as to break the bank of challenging parties. Perot and Nader have in recent years had an impact on general elections as they ran on an Independent ticket. Someday a popular figure with a devout following will run as a third party candidate and change our two party system. You may not be aware that there is a strong base of people who are trying to get Oprah Winfrey to run for president. I think that she could win. Money is no issue. She has high inteligence and compassion. Those qualities make for a president who can analyze information and make a decision that people would support and understand. But she is too smart to run.

One reason is most people in our country don't realize that there are more than two political parties, and therefore only choose one of the two. Another, more common reason is that most people believe that it would be a waste of a vote to vote for an independent candidate because they are bound to lose anyway. I hate it that we can't get a prominent third party into the government the same way Democrats and Republicans are.

Because there is no such thing as a free election in AmeriKa... the only people who actually believe the elections are fair, are AmeriKans who are too stupid to know the difference.
I have been voting for over 40 years and I have NEVER been offered a real choice for who I want to vote for... it's just a matter of which one I can hold my nose the LEAST for, that I vote for.

The candidate's job is to get elected, not to care about us. People can care for themselves in most things. When the elected get into office, that's when it's time to do what's right for the country (which isn't caring, but enabling us to care for ourselves). Whichever person (not party) can do that the best, then that person will get my vote. That's why I'm voting for Rudy Giuliani whether he is a Republican, a Democrat, or in a third party.

you got me, it really is annoying that ppl can't see that dem and rep's are both responsible for the problems in this nation. and their constant fighting and finger pointing is only to keep us distracted so they can push through legislation and enact laws that benefit themselves. its really all about greed, power and money for them, you're right they could care less about the ppl of this country. if they did care they wouldn't allow 20 million illegals go without paying taxes while the rest of us have to and they wouldn't allow our soldiers to be denied medical care or given substandard cared that we as u.s. citizens pay for , whether at walter reed or on our bases.

In a democracy such as we enjoy in both the U.S and U.K.
Why not stand up and be counted, start your own political
party, get a group of likeminded followers, write a mandate and put it to the people! "Bobs your uncle" You are quite
entitled to do so! Send a copy of your mandate to me,!
