...who are utterly, distinctly, unflinchingly themselves, no matter what situation they're in, despite whatever anyone else expects them to be?

I have known well only one...and hadn't realized just how much I'd miss him.

My dear, dear J - though I know you cannot see this, I wish you strength and comfort.

I don't want to sound pompous or anything, but....me. I wasn't always like that though. I had to deal with pretending to be someone I was not to gain attention from people who I thought I would look good with if we were friends. But I learned that most of the times if you do that, you'll get stabbed in the back by all of them. I am in lot of situations where people expect me do something else than I want to do because I have juvenile diabetes. You know, they go you can't do this and you can't do that. But I go ahead anyway. I am not going to let a disease take away what I like doing. People try and stop me from running Cross Country and from playing Lacrosse because I am sick. But I don't see it that way, I see it as I have life now, why not live it? No matter what situation I am in, I know who I am, i know my limitations, and I know I can be whoever I want to be, and I don't have to let people plan my life out for me.

Actually, because I am like that myself, I tend to have folks like that as MYfriends too. So I know quite a number of folks who are TOTALLY non-conformist and are themselves ALL the time. They refuse to conform to the mood of the group and are ALWAYS in the same frame of mind. Must be a Witchy kind of thing. LOL

I know one like that and this person doesn't care if it's rude, obnoxious, aggravating or embarrassing. Nobody's opinion matters and this person will do whatever seems to make him happy.
