Could be the power supply.
Could be something else.
I bring memory, a hard drive, cd-rom, video card, sound card
500w power supply soldering iron, tools
and a 4gb U3smart flash drive filled with
software when I make a house call.
They fit into a neat little Attache case.
And rest assured no problem can elude me.
As power supplies can be purchased for about $40
I think $60 for installing one is far too much.
The process takes less than 10 minuites.
The process of elimination can be quite costly.
So get a Techie friend with a goodie bag like mine to look at your PC first before buying anything.

It could very well be the power supply. I would go to a regular computer repair shop. In there they can check your power supply and check it, also they will diagnose your problem correctly. You would not want to spend the 30 -40 dollars a power supply costs and that not be the problem. Power problems are usually the easiest to figure out, and the cheapest to fix.

Hi,

No display on the screen can be due to several reasons. The power surge can damage a few things and power supply is one of them. $100 is not a bad price to pay for getting the power supply fixed. Make sure not to pay anything if your PC is not working to your satisfaction.

This happened to me, but it was a problem with my OS or Harddrive.
My comp would turn on, but nothing would load hence, blank screen. I use a compaq as well. But one day, i just left my comp alone and it works.

I'm not sure about your problem but i guess it would be a good idea for your friend to check the problem before you pay him. If he can't fix it, then send it back and i guess they'd send you a new one, or something.
Haha. That probably didn't help.

Good Luck.

If the PC is still under warranty I'd send it back to the company. If you have someone else work on it while under warranty the warranty becomes void. However, if your PC is not under warranty, I'd take it to someone who knows what they're doing and won't charge you an arm and a leg. If you trust this friend of yours it's worth a shot.
