Just do it! The sooner you unbolt the bell housing take the X member off support the engine and pull both axles the sooner you will get all that clutch dust in your lungs. That will send you back into retirement. Not Kidding some front wheel drive cars are nightmares to get the transmission out and back in. With out an automotive lift and engine support bar all your airpowered tools. And some engine compartments require you to take the power train out then separate the transmission. I would drop over to the ford dealership and ask a couple questions then buy a shop manual.

They are not a good job. You have to lower the front subframe to swing the gear box out of the way. A couple of skilled mechanics, with a two post lift and lots of air tools would be able to do one in a couple of hours, provided they had done quite a few before. Mere mortals would take all day, even with all the equipment.

arm your self with two trolley jacks one pair of axle stands and four hours of your time .Jack car up remove drive shafts remove the two bolts that holds the engine cradle gear box side, and undo the two bolts on driver side just enough for the end of the gear box to clear the chassis leg you don't have to completely remove the box from the car you will have enough space to change the clutch unit and the release bearing, using two jacks one for holding the engine and the other one for the gearbox
