do you think that "al hasad" can cause real damage to people or to their relations?

Yes, I do actually. It is mentioned in Quran.
I have seen it and I always read almo3awezateen when I feel something.
However Rana, some people take it to the extreme. to the extent of cutting relationships and saying stupid things about other people. I see this happening alot especially between females, older ones more than others. It really annoys me.
Usually you see what I mean in the following situations:
- Marriage. the mother is afraid of envy from her friends who got daughters not yet married, or married to a man less qualified or poorer than her daughter's husband.
- School, University, Postgraduate results
- Pregnancy
- New Car
- Or even old car
- New Job
- New anything basically
and sorry to repeat it is almost always women who talk about that.

I know that it exists because it has been mentioned in the Holy Quran. However, I didn't realize how much it can affect you in your life until recently. I never used to pay attention to things like that, but I always say ma sha2 Allah when I see something that I like. Ever since God blessed me with my daughter, I swear very strange things started happening both to me and her. If it was a few isolated incidents I wouldn't have noticed, but it was beyond belief. Suffice it to say that while she appeared to be a perfectly healthy beautiful baby and while people were pinching her and saying how adorable she was (never once did they say ma sha2 Allah) she was vomiting blood, had an ulcer, and was on lots of meds. You wouldn't believe what we went through, al7amdulilah for everything.
I really believed my grandmother when she told me that probably hasad played a part. However, I do believe that nothing will take place without God's will, and that I have to take practical steps and solutions to get rid of the problem. I don't just sit there moaning my luck and attributing everything to the evil eye! May God protect us all min shar 7asid itha 7asad.

i believe it exists , and that it causes damage .
our Prophet (PBUH) placed a covered stone in the place of his grandson. women came into the room and left. thestone was split into two. from this comes the quote :
3einha falaqt el hhagar.
from observation, i find that the majority of hhasedeen are females ! sorry !
this might be bec females observe too much . they see things that can be missed by males . for example, this child is VERY healthy, down he goes wih illness.
this husband brings everything his wife likes, out he goes to fall in love with another woman.
this neighbor is v elegant, out she goes and never returns bec of a fatal accident.
some here say that everything is bi amr illah. this is true, so it's amr illah that this EYE hits someone.
the EYE may be semi fatal , so the elegant woman will just become fat, lose interest in her looks, becomes baggy and wears shiwaal all the time. this will lead her husband to marry another ! but it's a bit better than dying in an accident.
HOWEVER, we may avoid all of this pain by simply doing the following :
read surat al ikhlaass, surat al falaq, and surat al naas.
saying , ma sha alah wala hawal wala quwata illa billah as mentioned in surat al kahf.
wearing something blue .
and rabina yekfeena shar al 3ein al hhasoud .

Yes I do. I also believe that it can only cause 3aknana or delay, I mean not necessarily harm. The only solution is surat Al Falaq and saying Allhu Akbar and Mashaa Allah. I do not offend people by saying the number 5 3ammal 3ala battal. I even avoid saying that number all together.

Envy is the sole destroyer of the human race! I believe in live & let live, though there comes a time when you cannot silence yourself!
There have been many cases of this being evident here in the Egyptian section recently, unfortunately, envy is an illness that has no known cure!
As for you Rana, you appear to be one of the nicest females here, Bless you!

It has an effect but limited and surat el falaq or the name of God will be enough for protection. On the other side it burns the heart of the person who envy. It's one of the punishments that comes on the spot.
The best is we don't take it in consideration when we do anything.

Envy is a killer. Envy is evil and it can lead you into a lot of evil things. You will like, cheat, and steal to feed it's hunger. In the end, envy will devour your soul and tarnish your heart.
