go to the Norton site and down load Norton anti virus remover this will remove your Norton anti virus, then install avast, i recommend it .

try this with it it is what i am using at the moment

antivirus and spyware programs, if you are looking for a free antivirus and spyware, well I have been using these two for the last month or so, on a trial by myself, and so far, they are as good as any, that I have tried, if not better, since installing them they have picked up any and all known viruses and spyware.
The spyware impressed me, when I installed a torrent tool bar, that was full of spyware it not only removed the spyware it removed the tool bar as well, which impressed me.
The two programs are AVAST home and SPYWARE TERMINATOR; I would recommend these two programs to protect your systems.
The first link is avast antivirus

Not to be Mr. Skeptical but..

Many computer people often use this statement:
"You get what you pay for".

I highly suggest you re-consider not renewing Norton Internet Security 2007. It is definitly one of the Best AV's if your comp can handle it.

But nonetheless, in order for your Avast! Home Edition to completly work, Norton must be uninstalled. Norton Tends to give people a hard time, meaning, you have to go an extra step besides doing
My Computer>Add/Remove Programs>Norton Internet Security 2007>Uninstall

You must download this tool, From Symantec
http://service1.symantec.com/support/norton2008.nsf/docid/2007072701410579

But, Before anything I'd suggest reconsidering.....

Thanks & Hope I helped

It is generally NOT advisable to run two antivirus programs at a time (which is the reason why Norton doesn't want to share the computer with AVG).

An alternative solution to that is for you to remove Norton, install AVG and Spybot S&D and SpamPal (http://www.spampal.org).

The good thing with these is that they're all free.

THE ANSWER:

1: Look for SYMNRT.EXE online. it is a tool made by Symantec to remove norton (since it is so hard to remove)

2: run it, reboot at the prompt.

3: update AVAST. it's is much better than norton, since it protects when something is downloaded or opened, and it can scan during the boot to protect before the computer even starts.

Also, you'll notice your computer will go alot faster.

If you are not computer savvy, it is better to spend the money and subscribe to Norton or McAfee, so that your software is constantly updated.

You can uninstall one, reboot the computer and install the other one.
