Only rich people with money to spare go to Court. those who are friends know the truth, so don't worry about those who are not or don't know you.
You could of course take the "bull by the horns" and ask if the culprit would like to repeat to you what they have said to other people about you. They will probably deny it and you wil be left feeling silly nad they will have scored a point.

First learn the difference between a noun and a verb. Then check the spelling of the word "defame". If the people are defaming you by calling you stupid, question what chance you would have of disproving their claim in a court of law.
Hope this helps.

Do you mean trying to wreck your character or bring you down or turn you into a different person? If that's the case, simply ignore them. If people are trying to bring you down, you must have exceeded their qualifications that they envy. Don't let that bug you and do your best always.

Well you need to learn the right words to express what you want to say for a start, otherwise you will always be an object of ridicule, and rightly so.

Good God. You need to know what you're talking about before you can do anything about it. Defamation of character...this concept is hard to prove, and in many states, there is nothing you can do about it. You need to consult an attorney to see what, if anything, you can do about it.
