If you are judging those by the bible or saying they are running on the Christian belief then I think they are all wrong anyway.
There is supposed to be a separation between church and state.
I truly believe that every American should be treated equal.
There is nothing wrong with a gay person getting married. Long as they leave me alone I could care less.
I thought this country was about freedom.
In any case it seems that the politicians are doing a very good job of distracting the people from the real issues. They are discussing issues in this election that they have been discussing for years. Gay rights and abortion have been issues for quite some time. They try to never really resolve them to keep us busy from whats really going on.
I would think your jobs and open boarders with Mexico would be a top priority.
the press has been so busy distracting you with gay issues and if a senator is gay.
I bet you never realized that over 100 Mexican trucking companies have contracts with the USA now. They started rolling across the boarders this weekend. Its all about this new North American Union.
Politicians have always been hypocrites and I haven't seen any change. We should let people get divorced if they want be gay if they want cause after all this is supposed to be a free country.
Live your life the way you want and let others live the way they want. We should all be fighting together for freedom and saving our constitution.

They have to work backwards, from the most recent family privacy issues back to older ones such as no fault divorce. The religious right wing has already changed pharmacists ethical code to allow registered pharmacists to refuse to fill prescriptions for birth control pills.

Then there was the issue about the morning after pill which prevents abortions. You'd think that would be a good thing, but the right wingers they tried to keep it off the market entirely. In the end, they succeeded it keeping it out of the hands of those who might need it most -- teen girls.

Divorce "reform" may be on the back burner for now, but the the bible certainly supports it. Or does it reject the idea... I'm not sure...

"Woe to those who enact unjust statutes and who write oppressive decrees, Depriving the needy of judgment and robbing my people's poor of their rights, Making widows their plunder, and orphans their prey!" Isaiah 10:1-2

Giuliani is ONLY on his third, as is Newt and Mc Cain is on his second.
They object to gay marriage on religious grounds, but, practically speaking there needn't be a ban on it civilly.
Your priest or minister or rabbi couldn't be forced to marry you in a religious ceremony, but a judge or justice of the peace could in a civil ceremony.
More importantly, have you considered what business would be up against if more couples had legal status and heath care costs went up, and their contributions to insurance, health, pensions were added by gays entitled to the same coverage as straights? I wonder if, for all the sturm und drang, is it the extra costs to businesses that fuel the 'no gay marriage' train?

I agree with Chris C above me. Marriage is an outdated concept, in my opinion. There are more and more unmarried couples living together raising children than ever before - all marriage actually achieves is limited protection under the law and helps with health insurance benefits (which is a big deal these days) - but most of the original reasons for marriage anymore are moot.

The whole concept of marriage should be abolished. Civil union, common law, etc., etc. is fine. But just the term 'marriage' spawns so many different emotions that almost any topic involving that term becomes dangerous.

Let's just get rid of marriage entirely.

Actually I'm a bit not in step with my rightie friends, see I'm all for banning marriage completely. Heck any thing with a 50% failure rate would have been recalled and shipped back to China by now. They might take my NRA card for saying it but oh well!

Matthew 5:32 and 19:9. The phrase “except for marital unfaithfulness” is the only thing in Scripture that possibly gives God’s permission for divorce and remarriage.

Most of he arguments to ban gay marriage are the same that were being used at that time to ban interracial marriage. They were wrong then and they are wrong today.
Then you have the marriage is for making kids argument.Apart from the obvious disrespect for women who are reduced to baby making machines by people who spout these idea's it's also very rude to straight people who are married and can't have or don't want children.
Last they have the sanctity of marriage and indeed if that was their concern they should better do something about the divorce rate.

Truth is gay marriage is a civil rights issue.Equal protection under the law.Gay people can't marry today and that's discrimination.

Nothing to ban, Bruce. There's no such thing as gay marriage. Marriage is between a man and a woman - no exceptions.

You're absolutely right. Guilliani and the others should be MADE to go back and live with their first wives as their other marriages would not be recognized by law.

Gay marriage does not require a ban. It isn't legal. Divorce is a legal way out of a marriage. You are comparing apples and oranges.
