Can a migraine headache trigger irrational and out of character behaviour (e.g. violent reactions)?

Migraine headaches are horrible things to have! I get them fairly regularly.. maybe once a week, sometimes more if I am stressed out... and they make me feel very sick! I either get very sad or upset, or both.. sometimes I might take it out on others. I am not really a violent person, but I can see how one suffering from a bad migraine would act out violently if they felt that other people were bothering them or possibly making the migraine worse.

Yes, while a sufferer will probably seek a dark and quiet spot to lay down, in the early stages, irrational behaviour can occur. This may be more likely if the migraine is stress induced.

I think you might be thinking of Cluster Headaches, Migraines usually make a person seek a quiet & darkened room.

Clusters can make a person beat their head against a wall becaise the pain is so horrendous,

i suffer with migraines and can get very ratty when I'm usually a generally nice person so i suppose it depends on how bad the headache is but maybe there would be something else wrong

It certainly can as it is interfering with the normal operation of your brains electrical activity. Any headache causes one to perform below par. Try playing chess or golf with even a slight one and the game goes out of the window.
