Positive: More information spreads easily. It's fast. Communication is easier. You get to know a wider and more diverse group of people. You can talk to people in very specific interest groups. You can look up fun facts. You can sell stuff.
Negative: Incorrect information spreads easily. It's addictive at times. Scams, etc.

Yikes. Here's something for you (and it looks like you should really take this one to heart):
Positive: With the Internet, students have virtually unlimited access to sources and other methods of research to study and write papers.
Negative: Unfortunately, those same students have unlimited access to sites like Yahoo! Anwswers, in which they can connive others into doing their own dang homework for them.
