Sometimes with knee injuries the hamstring muscles can tighten up as a protection mechanism which leaves them sore especially in the tendon areas behind the knee. Your ability to weight bear and ambulate is great and of course if you have any residual difficulties with the knee, it should be evaluated by the team trainer, or team physician. Otherwise, you might consider this ice gel wrap to aid in your recovery:

Sounds like you may have done some damage to the liguments or cartilage mate. Best get off to the Dr's to let them av a butchers at it.
I have severe pain in my left knee ( ex-army, football, rugby, motorcycles, rockclimbing, caving & any other activity which gave a buzz, has taken it's toll on my joints! ).
I recently went for an xray, but think i need an MRI scan also.
I have to take pain killers & use cold packs to reduce the swelling also.
Hurts like hell mate....go see the quack & getcha self seen bruv.
might be an idea to rest up, until it's healed too.

I have had a similar injury and found a knee support helped with healing. You can buy on eBay for about £5. Also 'Ibulieve'
and rest help. The younger you are the quicker it will get back to normal. I would think a few weeks.

Sounds like you may have twisted the ligaments in the knee and possible irritated the cartilage a little. I would try some embrocation or deep heat on it. You can buy these from most chemists and super markets.
