Ok, I am currently 19 years old and will be making 20 yrs old in March. OK back on August 10, 2007 I purchased my very first vehicle and I also paid cash for it. It is a 2002 Acura MDX suv red in color. It was on sale at dealership for $ 16,995, but since I had $ 14,000 in cash to pay they just let get it for that price. It took me nearly 8 months to work and save up for my vehicle. Now like whenever I go somewhere people always say to me that I'm lucky my parents let me drive their truck. Or sometimes I can be driving down the street and people stare at me crazy. Once when I was coming out of a cafe getting a takeout order of Russian dinner a cop approached because he assumed I was stealing my truck likely because I am a young black male and maybe assumed I can't afford something of that nature. Whebnever people ask me like friends or teachers if its for me and i say yes it is, they think I'm lying. Why do people figure that because you are young you can't afford it? Thanks

Chap I was at school with had same problem, his father was something big out in the colonies and bought him a new 3 series BMW, he could no go anywhere without PC Plod pulling him for stealing it, dark skin you see, eventually he sold it and bought a Ford and no one bothered him, there may be a lesson for you here. Round my area dark skin, Armarni suit new BMW = Lawayer 2 year old BMW = Pimp / or Drug dealer , as under 2 years old BMs are sold by reputrable dealers while older cars change hands for cash ,

Well congratulations on your car. The problem is that most 19 yr old don't work but they go to school and party.

You are one of the rare ones that believe in working for what you get. So that makes you different, and since you do not fit the norm, people are used to seeing things one way and accept that as the norm. If you see 100 people that drive Daddy's car, and then you come along as the 101 person, people are conditioned to seeing young people driving Daddy's car, so naturally, they think that the car is not yours.

Don't worry, this will pass as you get older. You sound like you will be successful in life.

Good luck to you.
