WWE Announces that Eugene is in Drug Rehab

WWE.com has now confirmed that Eugene (real name: Nick Dinsmore) was hospitalized in Manchester, England due to an overdose of somas, a powerful pain medication.

They reported the following on the site:
“Last week in Manchester, England, Nick “Eugene” Dinsmore was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after he was found passed out in a hotel lobby.

After regaining consciousness, Dinsmore admitting to taking Somas and other prescription medication. As a result of the incident, he was sent home from the WWE International tour and suspended indefinitely.

Since returning home, Dinsmore has agreed to seek professional help. He flew to an undisclosed location, where he will spend the next two weeks being evaluated at a drug rehabilitation facility.”

This is a big change from the days when WWE would do anything to cover up the fact that a wrestler was in rehab for an addiction. The timeframe for Eugene’s return is obviously very uncertain but at least he is getting help. It’s amazing to me that the death of Eddie Guerrero didn’t wake Dinsmore up and make him realize he could be next. In fact, sources tell me that Dinsmore was very close to death when he was rushed to the hospital and was “in very bad shape.” I wish him the best of luck in rehab and hope he will kick the habit for good.

It sucks for him. I like his wrestling, but you know, this Eugene gimmick really stunted his prosperity. Yeah, he was found passed out in a hotel and was sent to rehab a bit back. No official reason has been given of why about the hotel. However, there will be more info about why he was let go later on.

He is perhaps related to a famous wrestler of the 80s and that's why they hired him.
