The top of the GOP realizes they have lost already. It's why all Republican Presidential candidates are of the B list.No serious Republican will enter this race because they already know it's lost and don't want that on their resume.Republican strategy is try to hold on to as many seats as possible in congress.
Too many ordinary conservatives are brainwashed twenty four seven by their own media outlets like fox news and hate radio. They live in a separate reality where the cons are still gonna win and you and me are enemies.Where the war is good and was worth it,where Bush kept America safe and Clinton is to blame for 9/11.A reality where evolution is a scam and creationism is real science.Where the cooperate media is somehow liberally biased cause they sometimes, once in a while, dare to question the disastrous actions of the pseudo Christian in the white house and his failed administration.
Anyone who doesn't follow their far right idea's is not a political opponent but an enemy to be defeated just like the next yihadi.

Senator Craig just got lustful for sex .... no problem there
But he's gay ... still no problem
But he wanted sex in a public place ... the problem begins.
And he's married ... the problem worsens.
Yes there are some serious problems, but is more for the Senator and Mrs. Craig to work out ... In an ideal world, this should not be really a huge deal for the people of Idaho or the Republican party ... The senator got busted for being a naughty, nasty boy ... it's highly embarrassing and Mrs. Craig may want to castrate the cheating SOB ... but technically it's only a misdemeanor.
On the positive side, it just gives us liberals yet more ammunition to point to blatant conservative hypocrisy ... which is priceless to us ...plus the possibility of jokes are seemingly endless ... but still it is only a misdemeanor.
The real story is how quickly, and maliciously the Republican party abandoned one of their own ... a seasoned politician who towed the strict party line to it's fullest. This speaks volumes to how the once proud and noble party of Lincoln has digressed to a shadow of it's former self. It is now the party of the fanatical and intolerant. People are human and they make mistakes, but they don't get a second chance with this party ... even if they only commit a misdemeanor.
It's true the Republicans are facing bleak realities in November, 2008. This is what makes them so dangerous. Swiftboating schemes are being plotted as I write this. Absoultely nothing is beneath them and they are like an animal backed into a corner.
In the Nov. 2008 election, everything is at stake for the Republican party ... translation: for the big money power brokers and ruling elite. We know they will not fade away quietly, nor fight honorably.

they could. the thing about Craig though is that he a reflection on the whole hypocrisy of the republican party. that's the last thing the need, but on the other hand if they can divert attention to only the ridding of one man, no ones thinking about the travesty they call a war, and the debt that it has created. no ones has even broached the subject of what this is going to do to the economy.

Never put anything past politicians. They always seem to be able to stoop to new lows.
