I am not a Southerner I am a Yank but I don't watch the Sopranos so I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't mean that as an insult as I don't think you meant it as an insult to call us Northerners Yanks. I have been down South it is beautiful and friendly.

Aside from that southern word you used that is still have no idea what it means. I do like helping people, mostly when I find a question I know my answer makes a difference with. Most pole questions are just for fun.

You are wrong, I can't believe you stated that. How can you say "your views don't matter" if that's so, why would a person want to know? do you have an answer for that?

And yes, it makes me feel better. Knowing I'm able to aid someone in what I know. I'm not a young kid, I'm used up as far as the "work force" is concerned, I'm over 70 years old but, I've been to three Universities, in the medical profession, had built my own business up with many employees and, retired with prominence as a writer and editorials in several newspapers.
When I give someone advice, it's up to them whether they want to use it or not but, I can give it, it's free and if it helps someone, good for them and, me.

No matter what anyone says when we respond to a question no matter how lightly we answer it we still have to think, that is the kinship to therapy, therapy is in theory analysis answering a question involves analysis thinking about what we think and why we think it.(hopefully).which in it self is therapy without having to pay a therapist so YA is actually free therapy, as is talking to yourself which now Iv analyzed is why I'm so sane.

It passes the time. It is not work, but a little respite from work. It is fun. it's relaxing.

I guess we want to help. I guess we want to be heard. I guess we want to be noticed. I guess we want to unload. I guess we want to be entertained. And I guess, as you said, it is akin to therapy. Well anybody else's guess could be better.
