Everybody is right - it's "d".

Hitler had a secret deal with Stalin, that Hitler would take the western half of Poland, and Stalin could take the eastern half at the same time. That's what happened. (September 1939).

Hitler had to inform Stalin beforehand that he was going to invade Poland so as not to make Stalin nervous about Hitler possibly invading the USSR as well. Stalin okayed Hitler's invasion, but insisted on getting half of Poland in return for not clashing with Hitler militarily. That came a little later. (June 1941).

D and B (in that order)

The Germans attacked Poland at 6:00 AM on 1 September 1939 with 40 infantry, 4 motorised divisions, 4 light divisions and 6 panzer divisions, in the first exhibition of blitzkreig.

On September 17th soviet forces invaded from Poland from the east.

Fighting continued until October 5th - Warsaw fell on September 28th.

While 36 days is not very long, it certainly was a struggle. German casualties amounted to some 50,000, and many tanks were knocked out, although most were repairable.

Hitler took Poland, without help from anyone. The Poles fought back furiously, Hitler took this a insolence and destroyed all Polish villages his commanders came to, killing all who were in them, men women and children, he razed many villages due to the Polish insolence of fighting back. Poland was one country that would not give in to the German war machine, they were punished severely for this.
Poland was also one country that fought back after the Germans took over, using underground tactics. They never gave in

My cousins lived in a small Polish town that was razed by the Germans, my cousin, his wife an three children were arrested and taken away, never to be seen again. I have their pictures in memory.

Russia had no secret deals with Hitler, In the "Malta conference" the United States, Britain and France" all agreed to help Stalin with aide by giving them arms for the fighting that was to come. He was given planes and tanks and guns. Stalin t the time was worried about Japan on his Eastern front.
My own Uncle was a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force that hauled equipment by plane into Russia from India.

The answer is "D" without a doubt.

Blitzkrieg in Poland.
"That war would come but one week later. On 1st September 1939, German forces invaded Poland. Blitzkrieg was now put into practice. German forces attacked on a number of fronts."

D.

Russia participated because Europe wasn't going to protect Russia from Germany. Russia went to Europe for help, English, France, and United States refused to assist Russia. As the result, Russia had to negotitate with Germany to create a buffer zone and to buy more time in building an army for protection, even though World War I finished less than 15 years earlier.

In the end, Russia agreed to split Poland with Germany. That means Germany gets to have all of the Jews whereas Russia gets half of the land.

D - and the Katyn massacre (by the Russians against the Poles took place in May 1940). They were POW's and mostly officers. Katyn is west of Smolensk in Russia. All told, something like 8,000 Poles (from different locations) were executed by the Russians.
Nice to have friends like that.

I have never in my life heard that he had help from Stalin. As far as I have heard, Hitler and Stalin were enemies.
