Use by it fresh if you can. Things like bread shouldn't really be for stale.

What I think your asking, food cannot be sold after its use by date, but can be sold after its sell by date providing you are aware of it, and in this case it is normally sold cheaper. Any food that is sold after any dates specified cannot be classed as at its best. Some shops sell food that is nearing both its use by and sell by dates cheaper to get rid of the stock. This food is perfect. Hope this all made sense!

I think you mean grosser, as in more gross, not grocer as in a person who pedals groceries. And I presume you mean keeps not keeper?

Its not legal for a shop to change a use by date on food, but they can sell it cheaply up until that date is reached. Its not gross, its good business sense.

If food is past sell by date, it does,nt mean it is not fit for consumption.some items do slip through, but some small shopkeepers will still sell it.I picked up a load of returned ,date expired food, in manchester once, and as i was pulling away,i was stopped by an asian gentleman in a van,he offered me money to sell him some of the stock, particularly crisps.i refused.Whoever sells it,(knowingly) can be prosecuted.

She doesnt want to admit being used by 'date' so she'll distract you with the'check out chick' sign while cutting the quality which makes Mark down.

I think that I know what you mean...Grosser?

If it's Out of Date I would imagine that it is illegal to sell it as fresh...If someone wants to buy it then.....

Usually a "best before" date is a guide and a "use by" date is an instruction!
