Disney movies all have basically the same plot, they start off cute, establish a problem, the main character goes on an adventure of little ups and downs, then they bring you way down really fast before ending on a happy note.

Because it's an important plot device to explain why the child (main character) wants to become extraordinary. If both their parents were alive, they'd live a normal live.
