Even if it is, what's the relation of "666" with "Satanism"?

This is only my interpretation:

Its about geometry. If you read/watch 'The Cosmos' you'll get some interesting insight into the philosophers -Plato and Socrates. The taboo surrounding this number was to keep the general community misinformed. Due to the original superstitious belief surrounding it, it has continued to represent 'evil'. But its original context actually has nothing to do with 'evil' or satanism. People are just misinformed because they were afraid of what they could not understand. It is just mathematically Representative of a then newly discovered geometrical shape which represented the cosmos- which was a new and taboo topic at the time. To hide information from the public was to keep power , stay in power and live in wealth

That number has nothing to do with Satan. That is a misconception of the mass public.
In the Bible, it speaks of a beast...not a monster or an animal....it is a metaphor. The number of this man, this metaphorical beast, is 666.
You get that because in Jewish folklore such as the Cabala, there is a numerical value for every letter in the alphabet. When a person's name is added up, numerically, you get a number like that. The number of the man who is the metaphorical beast would have a name in Hebrew whose values add up to 666.
So, the number is not a reference to Satan at all. It is a reference to some individual.

The Number of the Beast is a concept from the Book of Revelation of the New Testament of the Christian Bible. The Number is 666 in modern texts, although 616 and 665 appear instead in at least one ancient source. This topic is a source of contention for many church groups and theologians. Some scholars contend that the number is a code for the Roman Emperor Nero, a view that is supported by the Roman Catholic Church.

My own personal theory:

- 666 is 999 upside down.
- 999 is the UK emergency services line
- The US emergency services line is 911
- In the US, the date 11/09 is written as 9/11
- The twin tower fell on that day.
- People like to blame the falling of the twin towers on the muslim race in general.
- This racial intolerance is the work of the devil.

Simple - see?

The Roman Emperor Nero is the reason. He was labeled the anti-Christ after his persecution of the Christians after the, I guess you'd call it, Great Roman Fire when Rome burned while he was Emperor.
Where the number 666 came from is that was he code name the Chief Rabbis in Jerusalem gave him because they did not want it know they were collaborating with a Roman Emperor.
They were collaborating with him in an effort to eradicate that pesty Sect Know as Christians which was causing them so much trouble. They considered Christians to be a Cult or Sect bent on causing trouble actually revolting against Rome.

Any way on the Chief Rabbi's prompting he accused the Christians of setting fire to Rome in and effort to destroy Rome. And ordered all Christians put to death, and Roman style of being put to death for something like was being tortured to death.

Nero is also where Nero's Cross, or the Anti-Christ's Cross comes from That is what the hippies and anti war movement back in the late 60's and 70's. That so called peace symbol is Nero's Cross.

That came about by St. Paul when he was being Crucified saying he was not worthly to be Crucified like his Lord. So the Romans under Nero';s orders Crucified him upside down.
You can learn a lot more by going and talking to a Professor of Rome history. He can tell you where to find the translated works of the Roman scribes. One of them was Nero's scribe who recorded it..

in the bible it says 666 is the # of the "beast". people have misunderstud this, the think the beast is satan, they are very wrong. the beast was refering to the emperore nero, and in the past, there was a system to turn someones name into a #. nero=666, (its like ancient initials) and the only reason the person wrote the beast instead of nero was because, well..if you write something bad abou the emperore..you die

The relevant part of the chapter is this:

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

—Revelation 13:18

People say that the beast is Satan, but others say its an interpretation of the name of the Antichrist. Like was stated above, numerical value was place in letters rather than numbers.

I think its more like 999 if you were to turn 666 upside down and it's more towards the end of the millienium where everybody gets crazy about the end of the world or the anti christ.
