Sound a little like a black widow, it's hard to say without you saying what the orange make looked like.
I think you hould google it.

What size? The black widow is not large. Is a mid size spider. The red mark of the Australian one is in the back, but the American one mark is under the abdomen.

Black widow.A lot of times the red mark is more on the orange side of red.
